HISTORY: There have been several civic bands adding to the cultural environment of Centerville over the years. In the early 1900's the band consisted of about 17 members. A civic band was also active in the 1930's. It was not until 1985 that Centerville again had a community band. |

In that year the current Centerville Community Band was formed by Wayne
Markworth, Director of the Centerville City School's music programs. The
group of volunteers continued to meet as a summer-only band during 1986 and
1987. In response to the desire of band members to continue throughout the
year, the band was reorganized as a year-around band. Diana Wightman, Wilbur
Cline, Robert Johnson, and Darin Jolliffe-Haas,Dr. Herbert Dregalla, Don Durst, and Jim Latten, Brendan Caldwell, and Ed Nagel led the band in the following
years, each adding his/her own expertise to the band. Our current director is Mr. Clair Miller.
