City volunteers complete First Aid and CPR Training

More than 60 Centerville volunteers recently completed First Aid and CPR Training. “In case of an emergency, we want our staff, volunteers and employees alike, to be prepared to assist those in need,” said Greg Horn, City Manager. “This is just one way we can achieve that.” The six-hour training also included use of an automated external defibrillator or AED. The volunteers join more than 110 City employees already certified.

According to Horn, the training was made available to all City volunteers. While volunteers working directly with guests at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace were required to achieve certification, many volunteers from other departments opted to attend the training as well. “The safety and well-being of our residents and visitors is very important to us,” said Horn, adding that all Centerville year-round employees are required to participate in the certification program. In addition, every Centerville Police Officer participates in additional training for first responder certification.

AED devices are located in every City facility including the Police Department, The Golf Club at Yankee Trace, Public Works Center, Municipal Offices and Benham’s Grove. Training has been provided to employees for more than ten years.

The American Heart Association course was taught by certified instructors from the Washington Township Fire Department. Certification is valid for two years.
