Tax Rates
For 26 consecutive years, the City of Centerville has not increased its Municipal Property Tax or Earnings Tax rates. In actuality, the City has reduced the Municipal Property Tax rate from $3.81 per $1,000 of assessed valuation in 1978 to $2.35 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for the year 2006. This reduction of the property tax rate gives Centerville one of the lowest Municipal Property Tax rates in the entire Miami Valley.
The Municipal Earnings Tax rate remains at 1.75%, the same level which became effective on October 1, 1981, after voter approval. The earnings tax provides for many of the City’s services and major improvement.

Filing
All working residents 18 years of age or older are required to file an income tax return without regard to city of employment. This requirement is called "mandatory filing."
You are permitted a credit up to 1.75% on wages taxed in another city. If your place of employment is in a non-taxing district, you are required to make quarterly payments during the tax year equaling 90% of your tax liability (balance due with return).
These payments are due April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31.
The tax return is due on April 15.
If you are filing your federal return on extension, a copy of said extension must be filed with the city. An extension only extends the time of filing, any tax liability is still due by April 15. Extensions are not granted for returns with only W2 wages.
